The Ditchdigger’s Daughters: A Black Family’s Astonishing Success Story is a biography written by Yvonne S. Thornton, M.D. This book explores race relations, education achievements, and a father’s dream to see his daughters grow up to be doctors. This book shows determination, it has love advice, and gives hope to those of various backgrounds. I’d recommend this book to anyone interested in these topics. It made me laugh. It made me want to cry. Overall it’s educational & I’d recommend it to ages 16 and up. I say 16 because someone that is younger may not be able to grasp the concept of the book. I say older because adults can learn a lot of lessons from it too.
